Preparation
Tips for Sunday Worship
Ready Your Heart
Take time, preferably Saturday, to ready your heart for worship. Ensure plenty of sleep the night before. Help our children to bookmark the Bible passages and ready as much as you can beforehand (notebook, pencils, Bible, snacks, etc.).
Review and Reflect
Review notes from this past Sunday and recall/share any significant takeaways or learnings. This helps deepen your engagement with God's Word and creates family discussion.
Read the Text Together
Read the upcoming text together. Ask what stands out, what is difficult to understand, what do you hope to hear, are there any questions you might want to ask the preacher, what encouragements are you reminded of from this text and might share with your siblings during fellowship?
Learn the Hymns
Listen or practice singing the hymns (either upcoming or from the prior Sunday). We all will be blessed by meditating on the words and via teaching and admonishing one another through corporate singing. Additionally, our children will be more excited and feel even more included as they know the songs.
Pray for Sunday
Pray for Sunday's services and the people leading it. Pray for one another. Pray that God will be exalted in all of it and that we would draw close to Him. Pray that we will have ears to hear and hearts to love.
Go the Extra Mile
Ask yourself, "what else can I do to teach, train, and/or prepare for making the most out of our corporate worship?" We're sure the above is just a start and that there are a multitude of other ways we each can prepare to worship this Sunday.
